Whiston In Bloom (Garden Competition) 2017

We are looking for entrants in the Whiston area who make our Community
a blooming lovely place to live in.

Categories and Awards

Overall Winner: Whiston in Bloom 2017
1st Prize Certificate, £50 cash, Shield and a Plaque - 2nd Prize and 3rd Prize Certificate of Merit

Overall winner, the entry judged to represent the hallmark of gardening in Whiston with significant and influential contribution effect in the beautification of Whiston Township. The only other requirement being that the site must be visible to passer-by from a footpath, road, etc.   It will be selected by the Panel of Judges from all the entries received.

1st prize winner will be entitled to retain the Shield for a year and return it before next year’s competition; winner will be entitled to keep the plaque. (First prize winner of this year will not be eligible to qualify for the first prize award next year, but will be eligible the following year)

1st Prize, Certificate, Cash award and a Plaque - 2nd and 3rd Prize: Certificate of Merit

Category 1:  Best Residential Garden (overall effect including, front, back, side garden) First Prize £20

Category 2:  Best Allotment Garden - Individual (including vegetable, fruit and flowers): First Prize £20

Category 3:  Best Commercial/Institution (incl. Shop window front display):  First Prize £20

Category 4:  Best Community/Allotment Garden - As a Group: First Prize £20

Category 5:  Best School /Garden - As a Group:  First Prize £40 - School Children will be provided with Rosettes (up to 40)

Category 6:  Young Gardener of the Year 2016: (18-25 years) First Prize £20 

Category 7:  Best Container: (including planters, hanging baskets, tubs) First Prize £15

Special achievement award: (at the discretion of the Judging Panel).  Individual /Groups entries who do consistently well over time may be nominated to receive the Consistency Award. Similarly individuals/groups responsible for the contribution for the horticultural beautification of Whiston may be considered for an award.
